1. About this Notice
This Notice explains how AANANTO uses cookies, Local Storage and similar technologies when you visit the website, register or sign in, play AANANTO games, or open an Artisan payment checkout.
A cookie is a small item of information stored by a website in your browser. Local Storage is a browser facility that allows information to remain on a device after the browser has been closed. Session Storage normally lasts only while the relevant browser tab or session remains open.
In this Notice, the expression browser-storage technologies includes cookies, Local Storage, Session Storage and comparable technologies that store information on, or access information from, a browser or device.
This Notice should be read together with the AANANTO Privacy Notice.
2. Summary of AANANTO’s use
AANANTO uses a limited range of browser-storage technologies for:
- operating secure registration and login sessions;
- recognising that a member is signed in;
- protecting membership and checkout activity;
- remembering selected game settings;
- recording best game results on the device;
- supporting PayPal checkout;
- preventing fraud and automated abuse; and
- diagnosing security or technical faults.
AANANTO does not currently place analytics, behavioural-advertising or marketing cookies on its ordinary website or game pages.
Opening the logged-out Home Page or Puzzle Me page does not currently create any AANANTO cookie or Local Storage entry.
3. Strictly necessary session technologies
Some browser-storage technologies are necessary to provide a service that the user has requested, such as signing in, opening protected membership content or starting a payment checkout.
These technologies may be used to:
- establish and maintain a PHP or Website X5 session;
- authenticate a registered account;
- keep the member signed in while protected pages are opened;
- prevent unauthorised access;
- secure a payment or checkout session;
- prevent or detect fraud;
- record a checkout selection; and
- return the user safely from PayPal to AANANTO.
Blocking these technologies may prevent registration, login, protected gameplay or payment checkout from working.

The precise technical name of the Website X5 authentication cookie may change if the website’s access configuration changes.
5. Game settings and best scores
AANANTO uses Local Storage to remember selected game settings and locally recorded best results.
lastGame:v1Provider: AANANTOType: First-party Local StoragePurpose: Remembers the most recently used game configuration.
The stored information may include:
- selected game mode;
- puzzle difficulty or grid size;
- selected picture identifier;
- Ghost setting;
- tray position;
- Artisan piece-count setting;
- sound setting; and
- grid-display setting.
It does not contain the picture itself, payment information, a password or full saved puzzle-piece positions.
Duration: Until replaced by newer settings, deleted through the AANANTO game-storage control, or cleared through the browser or device.
Classification: Game appearance and functionality preference.
Classification: Game appearance and functionality preference.
best:<mode>:<image>:<rows>x<cols>Provider: AANANTOType: First-party Local StoragePurpose: Records the best locally achieved time and, where applicable, move count for a particular game mode, picture and grid size.Created: When a qualifying puzzle result is completed and stored.Duration: Until replaced by a later result, deleted through the AANANTO game-storage control, or cleared through the browser or device.Classification: Game functionality preference.
Different completed games can create more than one
best: entry because each mode, picture and grid size has its own result record.Resumable puzzle progress
The current AANANTO saved-game system stores resumable puzzle progress against the signed-in AANANTO account on AANANTO’s protected server storage.
That account-level saved state may include puzzle-piece positions, timer state, placed pieces, clusters, Sorting Box contents and related game settings.
It is not stored in
lastGame:v1 or in the best: Local Storage keys. Further information about account-linked saved-game data is provided in the AANANTO Privacy Notice.Using private-browsing mode, clearing browser data, changing browser or changing device may remove local game preferences and locally recorded best scores. It does not automatically delete an account-level saved game held by AANANTO.
6. Controlling AANANTO game-preference storage
AANANTO provides a control labelled:
" Remember game settings and best scores on this device "
This control is enabled by default.
Turning it off:
- deletes
lastGame:v1; - deletes AANANTO keys beginning with
best:; - prevents those game-preference and best-score keys from being recreated while the setting remains off; and
- does not delete account-level resumable puzzle progress stored on AANANTO’s server.
A small first-party preference record may remain solely so that AANANTO can remember that the user has objected to game-preference storage. It is not used for advertising, analytics or tracking.
The control may be turned on again at any time.
Remember game settings and best scores on this device
This setting controls only browser-stored game settings and locally recorded best scores. It does not delete or disable account-level saved puzzles held securely by AANANTO.
7. PayPal checkout storage on AANANTO
When a signed-in member opens the Annual or Lifetime checkout page, PayPal’s checkout software may create the following Local Storage entry before the member continues to PayPal:
__paypal_storage__Provider: PayPal, through the AANANTO checkout integrationType: Local Storage on the AANANTO website originPurpose: Supports PayPal checkout-session operation, security, technical identification and payment processing.Created: When an AANANTO Annual or Lifetime checkout page loads.Duration: Until PayPal replaces or removes it, or the user clears the AANANTO site data in the browser. It may remain after the member logs out of AANANTO.Classification: Necessary to provide the PayPal checkout selected by the member.
Opening the checkout landing page does not itself create a subscription, capture a payment or change the member’s Artisan entitlement.
8. Technologies used on PayPal-controlled pages
When the member presses the PayPal continuation button, the browser leaves or overlays the AANANTO checkout and opens a PayPal-controlled payment page.
PayPal may use cookies, Local Storage, Session Storage, scripts and similar technologies to:
- operate the payment page;
- authenticate a PayPal user;
- display eligible payment methods;
- protect the checkout;
- detect fraud or irregular activity;
- monitor technical performance;
- remember language or payment-session selections; and
- complete or cancel the transaction.
PayPal states that its technologies may include essential, performance, functionality and advertising or targeting technologies. PayPal controls those technologies and applies its own privacy, cookie and preference arrangements.

Members should consult PayPal’s Privacy Statement and Statement on Cookies and Tracking Technologies for PayPal’s current details and controls.
AANANTO does not receive or store the customer’s full debit-card or credit-card details.
9. hCaptcha and payment security
PayPal’s checkout used hCaptcha-related services to help distinguish legitimate users from automated or abusive activity.
Cookies observed during the audit included:
-

The audit found no hCaptcha Local Storage or Session Storage keys on the tested PayPal page.
Members should consult the hCaptcha Privacy Policy for current information.
10. Analytics and advertising
AANANTO does not currently use its own analytics, advertising, behavioural-profiling or cross-site-tracking cookies or Local Storage technologies.
The July 2026 audit found no AANANTO storage on:
- the logged-out Home Page;
- the logged-out Puzzle Me page; or
- ordinary public collection pages tested as part of the audit.
AANANTO also detected no AANANTO IndexedDB database, Cache Storage or Session Storage entries during the audited journeys.
PayPal or its authorised providers may use technologies for additional purposes on PayPal-controlled pages, as explained in PayPal’s own notices. Those technologies are not used by AANANTO to build an advertising profile of activity across the AANANTO website.
11. Logout and retained device information
When an AANANTO member logs out:
- the Website X5 authentication cookie is removed;
-
PHPSESSIDmay remain until the browser session ends; -
lastGame:v1may remain unless game-preference storage has been turned off or the key is cleared; - any
best:keys may remain unless game-preference storage has been turned off or the keys are cleared; and
__paypal_storage__may remain until PayPal or the browser removes it, or the user clears the AANANTO site data.
Remaining Local Storage does not keep the member logged in and does not by itself grant access to protected membership content.
12. Other browser and device controls
Users may also manage storage by:
- changing browser privacy settings;
- deleting cookies and site data;
- clearing Local Storage;
- blocking third-party cookies;
- using private-browsing controls; or
- closing the browser to end session cookies.
Browser controls vary between browsers and devices.
Blocking strictly necessary technologies may prevent registration, login, protected gameplay or PayPal checkout from working correctly.
Deleting browser storage may remove local game settings and best-score records.
13. Third-party websites
Following a link to another website does not make AANANTO responsible for every technology used independently by that website.
When a user opens PayPal or another third-party service, that provider’s own privacy, cookie and browser-storage notices and controls apply.
AANANTO seeks to identify third-party technologies that it deliberately enables as part of the AANANTO service and reviews them periodically.
14. Changes and contact
AANANTO may update this Notice when:
- website or game functionality changes;
- login or membership systems change;
- payment providers change;
- new browser-storage technologies are introduced;
- existing technologies are removed; or
- legal or regulatory requirements change.
The current version and effective date will be published on this page.
