HOW TO PLAY & TIPS
HOW TO START
Choose Full Jigsw Board from the game modes.
Full Jigsaw Board opens in a board-first view, with the puzzle board and loose-piece tray ready to use.
Select Game Setup at the top-right of the screen when you need to:
  • choose the number of pieces;
  • show or hide the ghost image;
  • show or hide the stats panel;
  • choose another picture; or
  • enter Full Screen.
Choose from 9, 16, 36, 64 or 100 pieces.
Smaller puzzles are quick and relaxed. Larger puzzles provide a more demanding visual search and placement challenge.
HOW TO PLAY
Study the interlocking pieces in the tray and choose a loose piece.
Corners and edge pieces are often the best to choose first.
Drag the piece from the tray to the position where you think it belongs on the board.
A correctly placed piece locks into position and becomes part of the completed image.
A piece placed in the wrong position does not lock onto the board and remains available for another attempt.
Continue searching, dragging and placing pieces until the image is complete.
THE PIECE TRAY
The tray keeps all unplaced pieces organised and separate from the board.
Its position changes automatically to suit the available screen:
  • in portrait orientation, the tray appears below the board;
  • in landscape orientation, the tray appears beside the board.
When more pieces are available than can be displayed at once, scroll through the tray:
  • horizontally when the tray is below the board;
  • vertically when the tray is beside the board.
Placed pieces are removed from the tray and remain locked on the board.
TIPS FOR ENJOYABLE PLAY
Begin with pieces containing distinctive features such as:
  • corners and edges
  • strong colours;
  • text or signatures;
  • buildings or doorways;
  • branches, horizons or roof lines; and
  • unusual textures or shapes within the image.
Interlocking pieces have tongues and grooves which help provide shape clues especially with identically coloured areas.
Look also for visual continuation between neighbouring pieces: a line, colour gradient, shadow, pathway or recognisable object.
Use the ghost image when an area is difficult to identify.
Reshuffle the tray when you need a fresh view of the remaining or out of sight pieces.
Scroll steadily through the whole tray rather than concentrating only on the pieces currently visible.

BUTTONS and CONTROLS
GHOST IMAGE
Use the Ghost control in Game Setup to show or hide a faint guide image on the board.
The ghost image can help you:
  • identify where colours and details belong;
  • judge the position of less distinctive pieces; and
  • see how the completed image will be arranged.
Hide the ghost image when you want a cleaner and more challenging puzzle.
STATS
Use the Stats control in Game Setup to show or hide the stats panel.
Full Jigsaw Board stats display:
  • elapsed time;
  • best time; and
  • the number and percentage of pieces placed.
The panel updates as pieces are successfully added to the board.
Hide the stats when you prefer a cleaner and less distracting play area.
SAVE & PAUSE
Save & Pause becomes available after you place your first piece.
Use it to save:
  • the selected picture;
  • the chosen number of pieces;
  • all pieces already placed on the board;
  • the remaining tray-piece order; and
  • the current timer position.
The puzzle is paused after it has been saved.
When the saved game is restored, select Resume & Return to Game in normal browser play, or Resume Play from the three-dot fullscreen menu.
Your saved Tray Board game is associated with your account and can be continued when you return.
RESHUFFLE THE TRAY
Use the compact Reshuffle control icon The compact reshuffle button used in Full Jigsaw Board to rearrange the remaining loose pieces.
In portrait orientation, it appears at the top-right corner of the bottom-docked tray.
In landscape orientation, it appears at the bottom-right corner of the right-docked tray.
Reshuffling:
  • changes only the order of unplaced pieces;
  • does not move pieces already locked onto the board; and
  • does not reset the puzzle or timer.
The icon is coloured grey (unavailable) when the game is paused, and disappears when only one loose piece remains.
In Full Screen play, the Reshuffle control icon is not available. Reshuffle Tray is available through the three-dot menu instead.
CHOOSE ANOTHER PICTURE
Open Game Setup and select Choose Picture to open the picture gallery.
Selecting another picture starts a fresh Full Jigsaw Board puzzle using the chosen image.
The new puzzle replaces the current Full Jigsaw Board saved game.
Any progress in the previous Full Jigsaw Board puzzle should therefore be considered finished before another picture is selected.
DIFFICULTY — PIECES
Use the PIECES control in Game Setup to choose:
9, 16, 36, 64 or 100 pieces.
Changing the piece count begins a fresh Full Jigsaw Board game using the current picture.
Smaller puzzles are suitable for quick or relaxed play.
Larger puzzles require more searching, closer comparison and greater use of the tray.
Because Full Jigsaw Board uses interlocking pieces rather than square or rectangular shapes, many players consider it easier to play than the Tray Board game where image detail alone is the main clue to where each piece belongs.
FULL SCREEN
Select Play Full Screen from Game Setup to use the largest available puzzle area.
Genuine Full Screen removes the normal browser controls and gives the board and tray more of the physical display.
Use the three-dot button to access fullscreen actions such as:
  • Exit Full Screen;
  • New Image;
  • Save & Pause or Resume Play; and
  • Reshuffle Tray.
On phones and tablets, rotate the device to compare portrait and landscape layouts. The tray automatically moves below or beside the board.
On laptops and desktop computers, rotation is unnecessary; Full Screen simply makes fuller use of the available display.
